Robert Lostutter BFA 1963 (born in Emporia, Kansas in 1939)
Robert Lostutter, a Chicago-based artist, was a member of the Chicago Imagists, a breakaway group of surrealist iconoclasts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago who began showing their work at the Hyde Park Art Center in 1969.
His meticulous watercolors depict human-bird hybrids. Robert Lostutter’s quixotic heads, tightly enclosed in bird feathers or flower petals, gaze serenely, as if it were the most natural look in the world.
