Michele Peabody Myers exhibition at Coffee Cup CaféSept. 6, 2010 marks the opening of The Chicago Paintings, an exhibition by award winning artist Michele Peabody Myers. Ms. Peabody Myers is a graduate of Art Institute of Chicago.
Ms. Peabody Myers post-modernist style points to stereotypical
objects in plain sight with hopes of making visible what is often
overlooked. The rusted metal of a neon sign, a rusted kitchen step
stool, a child’s metal toys a rhetorical language that alludes to a
manufactured environment are reflected in her work.
Michele Peabody Myers has been creating works of art in her head
prior to physically applying brush to canvas. She found a passion for
oil painting while attending Long Big City College. Motivated by
teachers and a drive to obtain a degree, she received a scholarship to
attend The School for the Art Institute of Chicago where she earned her
Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2010.
Ms. Peabody Myers currently resides in Long Beach, California with
her husband, Garry, their exceptional German Shorthair Pointer, Lucy,
and a neurotic cat, Rosita Del Gato. Their three amazing children
continue to inspire her to paint almost every day.
Local Long Beach artist and former owner of the prestigious Gallery
33, Michael Stearns, has been invited to serve as the full-time curator
for the popular local café. Stearns plans a full schedule, which will
highlight the talents of the vibrant emerging Long Beach art scene. The
public is invited to view this exhibition during regular business hours
Monday through Sunday.
The Michele Peabody Myers Exhibition opening is Sept. 6, 2010 at the Coffee Cup Café 3734 East 4th Street, Long Beach, 90814. The Coffee Cup Café is Open Monday – Friday 7am – 2 pm, Saturday and Sunday 7 am – 3 pm.
