Cory Arcangel: The Sharper Image is the first U.S. museum exhibition survey of Brooklyn-based artist Cory Arcangel, a pioneer in the use of digital technologies in contemporary art. This exhibition includes significant works ranging from 2002 to the present, including new works produced in early 2010. Taking a comprehensive view of Arcangel’s diverse practice, the exhibition features videos, video game consoles, film, photographic prints, sculpture, drawings, and web-based work. Arcangel’s conceptual interventions into consumer technology brought him to prominence in the early 2000’s through his alterations of Nintendo games. Since then, Arcangel has continued to question the visual appearances, uses, and longevity of consumer technology, examining how it defines our lives.
Cory Arcangel: The Sharper Image is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami and is curated by Ruba Katrib, MOCA Associate Curator.
The exhibition is made possible with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and is part of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s Knight Exhibition Series.
