Enrollment Research Analyst

THE SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO is seeking a candidate who will provide statistical information and research analysis to support decision making for the admission, registrar and student financial services departments of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. This position is responsible for determining data requirements, identifying data sources, and developing data collection methods to create analytical reports for internal needs as well as state and federal statistical surveys. The incumbent will draw information from university databases (PeopleSoft), state and national datasets, survey results, statistical models, and other sources of factual information.

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE a Bachelor's degree (required); master's preferred. Minimum of three years experience in statistical reporting, analysis and survey design required. Experience in higher education preferred. A strong interest in quantitative analysis and proficiency in Excel and Access. Experience with PeopleSoft preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and high level of attention to detail.

Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) invites nominations and applications for the newly created position of Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Founded in 1866, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is one of the largest accredited independent schools of art and design in the country. As one of the two entities that make up the Art Institute of Chicago, SAIC provides an unparalleled multidisciplinary approach to art and design education, with twenty-seven areas of study offered through a range of graduate, undergraduate, and post-baccalaureate programs. A comprehensive program in liberal arts emphasizes the critical role that the humanities, mathematics, and the sciences play in the development of artists. SAIC's world-class status is best illustrated by the diversity of the student body: the 3,200 students come from over forty countries. SAIC has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of
the top graduate art programs in the nation, as well as by Columbia University's National Arts Journalism survey as the most influential art school in the United States.

Reporting to the President, the Provost /Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the School and provides leadership and vision for the academic program to support SAIC's continued growth and evolution as an international leader in the arts and design. The Provost serves as chief executive officer in the absence of the President. The Provost oversees the development, assessment, and budgeting of the academic mission. S/he works with the Dean of Faculty to support faculty development and productivity, and to formulate recommendations
to the President and the Board of Governors regarding tenure and promotion decisions and works with the Dean of Students in support of student learning and development. The Provost promotes the integration of the academic programs, student affairs, and enrollment.

SAIC seeks a seasoned, collaborative leader with a strong record of achievement in a field relevant to SAIC's programs, and a passion for the arts and arts education. An experienced and creative administrator, s/he must have a deep understanding of higher education and a record of successful institutional and financial management, as well as the ability to effectively negotiate and build consensus in academic communities. Skill in working with administrators, faculty, staff, and students in a climate of openness, trust, mutual respect, and collaborative problem solving is essential.

The Dean of Faculty/Vice President of Academic Affairs reports to the Provost and has responsibility and authority for the day-to-day administration of the academic program, for convening the department heads meetings, for the supervision of academic staff and faculty, and for executive recommendations regarding the faculty. S/he presents the initiatives and interests of the faculty and the School's academic and curricular programs to the Provost, the President and at Board of Governors meetings. The Dean of Faculty is a critical position in the institution and is expected to provide academic vision and to foster the continued strengthening and evolution of the School as an international leader in the arts and design. The Dean serves as a public representative of the School to the national and international cultural world, and works closely with the Provost, the President, and the Board of Governors on matters related to academic affairs as well as fundraising.

Ideal candidates will possess a strong record in a field relevant to SAIC's programs, a demonstrated history of academic leadership, and an ability to articulate and advance the School's goals effectively to a variety of constituents, both internal and external. S/he will be a creative program builder, with a solid understanding of the curricular, faculty, and student issues unique to an art school, and a deep commitment to the practice and education of artists and designers. An ability to work closely and collaboratively with the faculty to leverage the considerable intellectual capital of the institution is essential.
