Photographer Andrea Fuhrman (BFA 1993) will be the artist-in-residence at the Red
Barn Studio, 212 S. Main, Lindsborg, through March 10.
The Abilene resident received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art
Institute of Chicago and her Masters of Fine Arts at Washington
University. She has also completed degrees in education, psychology
and English.
Fuhrman has been an artist-in-residence in Costa Rica and Finland as
well as in several places in the United States. During recent years,
she has exhibited in several places in Kansas including Lawrence,
McPherson, Manhattan, Leavenworth, and Salina. She has also been a
part of exhibitions in California, Oregon, Missouri, Ohio, and New
York.
Fuhrman has won several awards including first place in the fine arts
category at the Smoky Hill River Festival 2007. The artist has been a
teacher, juror, and lecturer throughout the United States. While at
the Red Barn, the Fuhrman will be working on photo collages, shooting
photographs, and creating mixed media collages.
The artist will conduct a workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 5, for
students first grade and above. During the "Cutting Edges” workshop,
students will create collages using found objects and personal
treasures.
