What was one experience at SAIC that had the biggest impact on you?
When in my first critique as an undergrad, after arriving to Chicago for the first time with no knowledge of contemporary art, Professor George Liebert says to me after seeing my work “…so how does it feel to live in the 50’s?” This quote changed my attitude towards my work and art completely by making me more ambitious and aware of my time and reasons of making my art.
How have your experiences at SAIC had an impact on your life/career?
There is this positive mentality or attitude that I acquired from the combination of a community of international student artists in different programs and in an amazing city that is Chicago. This made me go through amazing experiences that shaped my view of the world I want for my art and my future. I met amazing people from all over the world who I exchanged cultural thoughts with, who inspired me, and professors that helped as friends by giving me backup in my artwork and in my art life thoughts. I am now, thanks to SAIC, an artist that feels the need to contribute my experience and imagination to the world… creating art every day and thinking I can change the world.
What are you doing now/what is your story?
I’m on my way to NY and continuing to work hard. Things are going very well for my artwork. I’ve been getting good responses from all over the world. I’m represented by Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago and also have some very important galleries interested in the work. So now is all about working. Trying to make the work bigger, literally and symbolically. I’m wondering what’s going to happen in a year from now….
