Laurie Jo Reynolds (MFA 2000) co-wrote a story for Creative Time Reports about the Tamms Year Ten campaign that closed the Illinois supermax prison this last January.
Last year, an exhibition called the "Tamms Year Ten Campaign Office”
opened in SAIC's Sullivan Galleries and served as the hub for the
campaign—holding all the files and ephemera from the then five-year
effort. It was also the working site of the campaign: volunteers met and
worked around the clock while gallery patrons observed and asked
questions. The exhibition closed in January, just days after Governor
Patrick Quinn closed Tamms.
